Ways to improve and change the particle shape of manufactured sand:
1. Use specialized “shaping” equipment
If the manufactured sand produced has sharp edges and excessive needle-like and flaky particles, it is usually because the processing equipment is unsuitable. It is recommended to use specialized sand making and shaping equipment such as a vertical shaft impact crusher (VSI sand making machine). This type of equipment uses the principle of “stone-on-stone,” which, through high-speed collision and friction of materials, can produce more cubic particles and higher-quality manufactured sand with rounder surfaces.
2. Flexible Adjustment of Equipment Operating Parameters
Taking a commonly used impact crusher as an example, its finished particle size is typically within the range of 0-5mm. You can adjust it in the following ways:
Adjusting the Rotation Speed: Changing the impeller’s rotation speed (usually between 1000-3000 r/min) directly affects the crushing force and output fineness.
Adjusting the Gap: Adjusting the gap between the rotor’s impact hammer and the annular liner.
Changing the Crushing Mode: Switching between “stone-on-stone” (mainly used for shaping, making particles more rounded) and “stone-on-iron” (mainly used for sand making, with a larger crushing ratio).
