The banana screen (also known as an equal-thickness vibrating screen) meets the core needs of the coal preparation industry for ultra-large throughput and high screening efficiency. The main advantages are:

1. Adopting the “equal-thickness screening” principle, it has a huge throughput.

The banana screen’s screen surface uses a multi-segment zigzag design with different inclination angles (large inclination angle at the feed end, small inclination angle at the discharge end). This design ensures that the material layer on the screen surface always maintains a near-equal thickness, avoiding the problem of decreased screening efficiency caused by the thinning of the material layer in the later stages of traditional screening. With the same screening area, the banana screen’s throughput is typically 1.5 to 2 times that of a traditional grading screen, making it ideal for large-scale continuous production in coal preparation plants, where thousands of tons per hour are common.

2. High screening efficiency, especially good at fine-grained materials.

At the large inclination angle at the feed end, the material spreads and stratifies rapidly, allowing fine particles to quickly pass through the screen; while at the discharge end, the material flow rate slows down, giving particles ample opportunity to contact the screen openings. This gives the banana screen extremely high screening efficiency (typically greater than 95%) and high grading accuracy when processing materials with high fine particle content (particle size less than half the screen aperture size).

3. Comprehensive Functionality, Meeting the Needs of Coal Washing Processes
The banana screen is not only used for particle size classification of raw coal, but also widely applied in desliming, dewatering, and demediuming stages of coal preparation processes. Its thin material layer design allows for easier water removal, resulting in extremely high dewatering efficiency. It is an ideal supporting equipment for the promotion of heavy media coal preparation processes and the construction of large-scale coal preparation plants.

4. Compact Structure, Saving Plant Space
Due to its large processing capacity per unit area, the banana screen requires a smaller screen surface area and overall size than a traditional circular vibrating screen to achieve the same processing capacity. This offers significant space layout advantages for space-constrained renovation projects of old plants or large-scale new coal preparation plants.
