A hydrocyclone assembly is an industrial equipment combination consisting of two or more hydrocyclones connected in series or parallel. It is widely used in mine classification, dewatering, desliming, thickening, and wet desulfurization in power plants. Its modular design enables intensive operation, using a shared overflow box and underflow box as material separation containers and aeration devices. The number and combination of units can be flexibly configured according to processing capacity requirements. This equipment separates slurry based on the principle of centrifugal force, and the lining uses wear-resistant materials such as polyurethane and high-alumina ceramics to extend its service life.

Medium and large-scale mineral processing plants typically use hydrocyclone assemblies for slurry particle size classification. Each hydrocyclone in the assembly is a rubber-lined metal cylinder composed of a cylindrical upper part and a conical lower part. The feed slurry flows in tangentially along the cylinder, and under the action of gravity and centrifugal force, the slurry undergoes particle size classification. Coarser particles of slurry are discharged from the underflow outlet at the bottom of the cone, while finer particles are discharged from the overflow outlet at the center of the cylinder.

Factors Affecting Hydrocyclone Classification Effectiveness: Once the geometry of the hydrocyclone assembly is determined, the controlling factors for the classification quality are the feed concentration and the feed flow rate of each hydrocyclone. After the geometry of the hydrocyclone assembly is determined, the feed flow rate of each hydrocyclone is proportional to the 0.42 power of the feed pressure.
