Cone classifier with simple structure and low cost

date icon

Sludge hopper, also known as cone classifier, is simple equipment for classification, desilting, and concentration. Its shape is an inverted cone. The ore cylinder is set at the center of the liquid surface, and the bottom edge of the cylinder is submerged to a certain depth below the liquid surface. The slurry is fed into the central cylinder in the tangential direction and flows out of the bottom edge after buffering. The outflowing slurry flows radially to the surrounding overflow weir. In this process, coarse particles with a settling velocity greater than the ascending velocity of the liquid flow will settle in the tank and be discharged through the bottom grit. Fine particles enter the overflow tank with the surface slurry. The feeding size is generally less than 2mm. The classification particle size is 75 μm or finer.

Cone classifier

Sludge desilting hopper has the advantages of simple structure, easy to manufacture, and no power consumption. Due to the large volume of the cone, it also has the role of storage in the production process. At present, it is mainly used in the dewatering of the original ore in front of the hydraulic classifier to improve the classification efficiency; it is also installed in the grinding equipment to concentrate and dehydrate the ore to improve the concentration of the ore feeder; and it is also used in various mines Control the concentration and quantity of ore before the mud sorting equipment.

 cone classifier working principle

The ore pulp enters the debris hopper through the feed pipe, forming an upward and horizontal flow. Coarse particles sink to the lower part of the cone and are discharged through the grit outlet; the overflow carries fine particles and flows out from the annular overflow groove at the upper part of the cone. The cone angle of the concentrating bucket is generally. If the cone angle is too large, the grit discharge will be affected; if the cone angle is too small, the height of the equipment will be too large. The specification of thick mud bucket is expressed by the diameter of cone bottom. The lower part of the mud cone classifier is provided with a high-pressure water pipe, which is used for washing the accumulated sand when the grit outlet is blocked.

The sludge hopper is mainly used to dewater the original ore before using the hydraulic classifier to improve the classification efficiency. It is also installed in the grinding equipment to concentrate and dehydrate the ore to increase the concentration of the ore feeder. It can also be used to control the concentration and amount of ore before various equipments for slime sorting.
